Rev. Charles T. Brown Jr., 74, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026 at Hackettstown Medical Center.
Charles was born on June 14, 1951 in Monrovia, Liberia to the late Charles T Brown Sr., and Rachel E. (Chesson) Brown.
Charles married the love of his life Deloris Davis in 1981. He was a graduate of Cook Bible College in Philadelphia, and later went on to study at Temple University and Philadelphia Bible College. Charles was an ordained Reverend and served at the Gates of Heaven Church in Newark, NJ. He was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Hackettstown, NJ, and sang in the choir. In addition to his Pastoral ministries, he was most recently employed as a hospitality supervisor retiring in 2006. Charles enjoyed fishing, cooking, and was an avid reader. He also enjoyed time with family, gardening and everything Philly. He loved sports and was an Eagles, 76ers and Phillies fan; he even coached sports in his younger years. Charles had a deep appreciation for the arts and was talented in painting and drawing. Above all, he loved reading and preaching the Bible, and had a love for theology. Charles also took pride in his education, and had a lifelong passion for learning. He immeasurably adored his family and the Lord, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his mother, Rachel E.Chesson Brown; his daughters, Charlmida "Chi Chi" (Mike) Brown-Turner, Charlene Cloud, Carmina (Pernell) Brown- Johnson, and Cyata (Rob) Brown- Montalvo; his sisters, Gbeu (Sam) Brown- Bickel, Julie Brown, Wanda (Azariah) Sirleaf, Bankee (Frank) Brown- Stewart, and Rachel (George) Brown- Mensah; his grandchildren, Olivia, Joyce, and Sasha Johnson and Justin, Justice, Jaylen, and Jayden Cloud; and his great-grandchildren Louis, Victoria, and Elijah. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deloris Brown, and his father, Charles T. Brown Sr..
Friends and family may pay their respects on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 9-10:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 213 Main Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 Funeral services will be celebrated immediately following at 10:00 AM in the church, Burial will follow the service at 1:00 PM at Pequest Union Cemetery, 36 Cemetery Road, Great Meadows, NJ 07838.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to his daughter to support his charitable efforts.
