Beth Ann Sackner, 51, of Long Valley, NJ passed away peacefully on August 21, 2018 at home with her loving family by her side.
Beth was born on August 1, 1967 in Bayonne, NJ to the late Vincent and Jeanne Murray. She earned her Bachelor's degree in 1989 from Montclair State College, where she met her future husband, Dan Sackner. They were married in 1993 and recently celebrated their silver wedding anniversary. In 1997, they moved to Long Valley where they found a welcoming community. Beth worked her entire career at AT&T in a variety of technical and managerial roles.
Beth was an animal lover and an avid runner who participated in many races from New York to Philadelphia to Florida. She was especially passionate about traveling and took pride in having visited 48 of the 50 states and many countries including Russia, Denmark, Venezuela, Tahiti, and most recently, Cuba. She was a fierce competitor who took no prisoners in 1980s music trivia. Above all, she loved her family and spending time with her husband, twin boys, and three cats.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Dan; her loving sons Brian and Sean; brother John Brennan and sister-in-law Caryn Radick of Kendall Park, NJ; brother Bob Brennan and partner Victor Carter of Jersey City, NJ; sister-in-law Susan Wilder and husband Robert Wilder of Skillman, NJ; sister-in-law Denise Sackner and husband Tony Markey, of Mukilteo, WA; brother-in-law Michael Sackner of Cinnaminson, NJ; parents-in-law Harvey and Priscilla Sackner of Willingboro, NJ; nieces Natalie Brennan, Miranda Sackner, and Grace Sackner, and nephews Noah Sackner, Keaton Markey, Aidan Markey, and Vaughn Markey. She also brought much joy and laughter to a wide circle of relatives, friends, and colleagues.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 1-3 PM at the Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 3:00 PM in the funeral home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Beth's life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online in Beth's name to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center at giving.mskcc.org or to your local animal shelter.
