Barbara A. Sanders, 65, of Andover, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
Born on June 4, 1960, in Florence, South Carolina, Barbara was the daughter of the late George and Joan Johnson. Raised in Newark, New Jersey, she met and married the love of her life, Julius Sanders, in 1982. In their early adulthood, they moved to Hackettstown, New Jersey, before settling permanently in Andover in 1999, where they shared a life full of love, laughter, and devotion.
Barbara was a lifelong learner and an avid reader. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and solving Sudoku puzzles. Known for her resourcefulness, she was the person everyone called when something needed fixing. Affectionately nicknamed "Ms. MacGyver" by friends and family, she could often be found exploring local thrift shops in search of her next antique treasure.
A deeply God-fearing woman, Barbara's faith guided every chapter of her life. She prayed boldly, loved generously, and leaned on her belief in God through every joy and hardship. Her spiritual strength was a guiding light to her family and all who knew her.
Above all, Barbara cherished her family. Her kindness, warmth, faith, and devotion will be profoundly missed.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Julius Sanders; her loving children, Jamaal and Megan Sanders; and her cherished grandchildren, Ahlia and Leyla Sanders. She is also survived by her daughter-in law Samina Sanders, whom she loved dearly.
She leaves behind six brothers: Dennis Johnson, Jerome Johnson, George R. Johnson Jr. (Georgie), Gregory S. Johnson, Jermaine Johnson, and Wali Johnson; and three sisters: Rudelle Johnson, Christine Paige Borrowdale, and Nykia Turner (Johnson). Barbara also leaves a host of beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who were touched by her love and generosity.
