Audrey R Carpenter

Audrey R. Carpenter, 97, of Mount Olive, NJ (formerly of Parsippany, NJ) passed away peacefully on July 28, 2023 at Hackettstown Medical Center. She was 97.

Audrey was born on April 20, 1926 in Lunenburg, Massachusetts to the late Irvin and Edna Huff.

She was a graduate of Framingham State University earning her Bachelor’s degree in Education. She taught home Economics in Torrington, Connecticut. During that time, Audrey met and married the love of her life, William B Carpenter in 1950. Together they celebrated 68 years of marriage until his passing on November 10, 2018. Audrey was a homemaker and truly loved being a mother to her 4 children. She was of the Protestant faith and was an active member of the Morris Plains Presbyterian Church. Audrey was very artistic and enjoyed sewing, crafts and gardening. She was an excellent cook. She and her husband liked to dance and they loved to travel and did so all over the world. The beach was her favorite place to relax and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Audrey is survived by her loving children, Gail Hatfield, Jane Marron and her husband Michael, Lori Harris, Scott Carpenter and his wife Kelly. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Kelly, Kyle, Luke, Russell, Jack, Daniel, Timothy, Sean, 13 great grandchildren and her siblings, Rosamond Smith, Rodney Huff and his wife Judy. In addition to her husband, Audrey is preceded in death by her son-in-law John “Jay” Hatfield, two sisters, Marjorie Grout, Betty Clapp and 2 grandchildren Emily and Thomas Harris.

All services will be held privately. Donations in memory of Audrey may be made to the Morris Plains Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
