Anthony Vincent Grabinski, 101, of Independence Township, NJ passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024 with his loving family by his side.
Anthony was born on September 17, 1922 in Buttzville, NJ to the late Peter and Frances Grabinski.
After High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII as an engineer in the Pacific. He married the love of his life Rose (nee; Romanowitch) in 1950. Together they celebrated 74 years of marriage prior to her passing in January of this year. Anthony built the home they raised their family in 71 years ago. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He and his wife loved gardening and had a ½ acre vegetable garden. He was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Great Meadows where he served as trustee for many years. Anthony was a two time past chief of the Independence Fire Department becoming a proud member in 1955.
He is survived by his loving children, Joan Woll and her husband Eric, Patricia Ruppel, James Grabinski and his wife Laurie. Adored grandchildren, Krysta Johnson and her husband Larry, Kyle Woll and his wife Alexandra, Alyssa Grabinski, Aaron Grabinski and his wife Morgan and great-grandchildren Collin, Rose, Kenna, Finnley and Magnolia. In addition to his wife Rose Grabinski he is preceded in death by a son-in-law Edward Ruppel
Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 4-7PM at Maguire Memorial Home and Cremation Services, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 335 Route 46 in Great Meadows, NJ. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at Pequest Union Cemetery 30 Cemetery Road, Great Meadows, NJ 07838
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anthony’s name to the church renovation fund, St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church P.O. Box 162, Route 46, Great Meadows, NJ 07882
