Anthony 'Tony' Despres

Anthony Despres, 45, of Washington, NJ passed away on August 21, 2018 at home.
Anthony was born on July 2, 1973 in Hackettstown, NJ to the late Ronald and Edna Despres.
Anthony, known to his friends as "Tony", was a graduate of Warren County Technical School. Anthony was currently employed by Northwest Abilities of Warren County. Prior to that, Anthony worked for many years at the Shop-rite of Mansfield where he enjoyed greeting customers with a friendly smile and hello. Anthony was of the catholic faith and grew up attending mass at St Mary's church with his family. Anthony loved the movies, especially action movies and any Avenger or Marvel movie that would come out. He read all about them, knew when they were coming out, saw all of them, and loved to talk about them. Another of Anthony's passions included traveling. His adventures have led him to Aruba, Alaska, Hawaii, Bermuda, Mexico and the Cayman Islands to name a few. He also participated in the Special Olympics and won many awards in Track & Field. He was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. His favorite memories always included going to the movies with his brother Adam and spending time with the kids at his brother Pete's home. Anthony was most proud of his working with the Warren County Arc where he will be remembered as a man who promoted self-advocacy among individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
He loved life and brought a smile to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Anthony is survived by his loving brothers, Ronald Despres and his wife Cheryl, Robert Despres, Adam Despres, and Peter Despres and his wife Kim; His adored nieces and nephews, Peter, Emily, Derrick and Katie; Many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins; And his extended family and friends from the Warren County ARC. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 4-7 PM at the Scala Memorial Home, 124 High Street, Hackettstown, New Jersey, 07840. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 302 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
